Description:

The first installment of the "Traveling Man" series features the first sighting of our robot friend whose 4.5-foot head is emerging from the earth's surface. A small portion of his clamp hand is grasping for purchase. His avian friends cheer him on. According to the artists Brad Oldham and Brandon Oldenburg, Traveling Man was once a locomotive, but some sort of weird metamorphosis transformed him into a ambulatory automaton. All three sculptures tell a chronological story and are located near the Deep Ellum light rail station.
