Description:
There are a few myths as to why this very symmetrical, domed shape is called Church Rock. Whatever its history it cuts an interesting shape out of the horizon. It was owned by Claud Young in the 1940s who used dynamite to blow out a portion of the interior to put away supplies for his livestock. Today, it is still owned by the Young family. Still, it seems that people often stop by to visit. Take the US 191 to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Nearby you can stop to see the ghost town of Marie Ogden.
