The mid-1800s saw wagon train after wagon train of weary travelers from the east, seeking a new and better life in the west. Cove Fort was a place where dusty pioneers could take a breather. This 19th-century rest stop was commissioned by Brigham Young, and builder Ira Hinckley used volcanic rock in the fort's construction. (Photo by Abegail Harthun)
