A raptor sculpture greets visitors to the Eastern Prehistoric Museum, established in 1961. Among its prized possessions are over 700,000 archaeological artifacts and 750,000 prehistoric specimens from all over Utah. The 1990s saw substantial construction and expansion of exhibits, which may be due to Michael Crichton's novel "Jurassic Park," published in 1990.
