Originally a mining town, Park City was known for its bountiful vein of silver. Now it's a popular ski destination thanks to Emmett "Bud" Wright. In 1920 he became a lineman for a telephone company and to get around the undeveloped land during the winter, he made his own 10-foot skis. Of course, he wasn't skiing for recreation, but he certainly laid the groundwork for future skiers.
