Swedish artist Karl Momen built his colorful sculpture between 1982 and 1986. He loved the starkness of the Great Salt Lake Desert, with its neutral hues and barren plains surrounded by the silhouette of distant mountains. His tree sculpture, painted in bold colors, is a striking contrast to the gray and beige tones of the backdrop.
