Description:
The Tower of Babel is a free-standing sandstone tower that rises up to a height of approximately 480 feet above the desert floor. The tower is composed of Entrada Sandstone which is a type of sedimentary rock that was deposited more than 160 million years ago. Over time, erosion has shaped the sandstone into the tower-like formation that we see today. The Tower of Babel is a popular destination for hikers and rock climbers, although climbing is only allowed with a permit.
