Description:

The Crafts Inn, originally built as Childs’ Tavern and completed in 1903, was commissioned by Major F. W. Childs and designed by the famed New York firm McKim, Mead & White following a lumber boom after the railroad’s arrival in 1891. In the 1910s it passed to the Crafts family and acquired its current name by the 1950s, and both the Inn and adjacent Memorial Hall, also designed by the same architects, stand today as architectural gems of late Shingle Style design.
