The second least populous state in the union is one of the top producers of fine marble in North America. To commemorate the state's contribution to this worthy building material this museum was established in 1880 by Redfield Proctor. Indeed the town in which the museum stands was named after Proctor and it is home to one the highest-yielding quarries in the state.
