Description:

The Waybury Inn in Middlebury, Vermont dates back to 1810 when it opened as a tavern and stagecoach stop and it has remained one of the state's longest running inns while also becoming known for its appearance as the exterior of the Stratford Inn on the TV show Newhart. Over the years it expanded into a welcoming country inn with a mix of historic charm and modern comfort. Its restaurant is popular for hearty and seasonal dishes such as shepherd’s pie, steak frites, vegetarian Wellington, smoky fried chicken, and a rotating selection of Vermont inspired specials that highlight fresh local ingredients.
