Description:

The Civil War Graffiti House in Brandy Station, Virginia, is a rare pre-war structure built around 1858 that survived the conflict and now serves as a powerful window into soldier life. During the Civil War, it was used by both Confederate and Union forces as a field hospital and encampment site, where wounded soldiers left behind signatures, drawings, and messages on its walls. Today, those preserved markings make the house a uniquely personal and haunting record of the men who passed through during one of the war’s most pivotal campaigns.
