Description:

Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia preserves the site of two major Civil War battles, the First and Second Battles of Bull Run, fought in 1861 and 1862. The First Battle of Bull Run was the opening major conflict of the war and where Confederate General Thomas J. Jackson earned the nickname “Stonewall.” Established as a national battlefield in 1940, the park now protects the historic landscape and commemorates the soldiers who fought there.
