Only the supporting columns survived a fire in 1916 but you can see the grandeur that the mansion once had. Built in 1725, the estate was once the home of the Page family - one of the First Families of Virginia. Like most plantations from the pre-Revolution and Antebellum periods, it has a dark past with its use of slave labor. Before its devastation, the mansion was a place of opulent parties and dances, even after the Civil War had ended.
