Description:

"Kugel" means "ball" in German and this one is massive as well as heavy. It's the largest kugel ball in the world, doubling as a globe, built out of solid black granite. Even at 29 tons the almost 9-foot-wide sphere will spin at just a slight touch due to a sheer layer of water in the very thin space between the bottom of the ball and its platform. It's on display outside in front of the Science Museum of Virginia and can be easily seen any time of day.
