Description:
This elegant Palladian-style building is the eighth state capitol of Virginia and was designed in part by Thomas Jefferson. The preceding state capitols were destroyed by fires which was all too common during the Colonial period. This building, over 200 years old, has the distinction of being the only state capitol with Thomas Jefferson's direct influence on it.
