Description:
Nestled within Cape Disappointment State Park, Deadman's Cove is a secluded pocket beach surrounded by towering cliffs, dense evergreens, and the dramatic coastline where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Despite its peaceful beauty, the cove earned its haunting name after victims of the 1853 Vandalia shipwreck reportedly washed ashore here, a reminder of the region's reputation as the "Graveyard of the Pacific." Today, visitors hike forested trails to reach the cove, where crashing waves, driftwood-strewn sands, and breathtaking ocean views create one of Washington's most memorable coastal escapes.
