Fort Worden

Located in a picture-perfect seaside town, Fort Worden was built to protect Puget Sound from invasion. Today, it is used for military training, although the guns that were part of the powerful "Triangle of Fire" trio of forts are non-functional. Because of its magnificent surroundings and breathtaking views of the sound, two well-known movies were filmed here - "An Officer and a Gentleman" starring Richard Gere and "The Ring" starring Naomi Watts. The state park has a lot to offer for tourists, including eateries, a lighthouse, trails, and beach access. Hours are daily, 7 AM to 8 PM. (Submitted by Kayla Holmes)
