Description:

Maneki Restaurant in Seattle opened in 1904 and is one of the city’s oldest and most cherished Japanese dining spots. It survived the World War II era when many Japanese American businesses were forced to close, then reopened afterward and became a longstanding community landmark. Today it is known for traditional dishes such as fresh sashimi, nigiri, chirashi bowls, black cod collar miso, gyoza, tempura and comforting favorites like sukiyaki and grilled saba.
