Description:
In its prime this facility was the largest in the state for mentally ill people. It was built as a farm colony where patients could be self-sustaining through agriculture. Some of the buildings are still in use and those are off-limits to the public. However, much of the closed down sections are part of the Northern State Recreation Area. The highlights of this historical site are the old barns, cannery, milking shed, and the cemetery. (Submitted by Savannah Moore)
