Lake Shawnee Amusement Park Ruins

This park never got off on the right footing. First built on Indian burial ground, then the site of two massacres in the late 1700s - so of course this would be the perfect place for an amusement park - right? Sure...if you're looking for "Final Destination"-style thrills. Come the 1950s, one child was hit by a delivery truck while arcing high on the mechanical swing and another drowned in the lake. The park soon afterwards closed. Try to plan your visit for October when it is open for haunted tours.
