Overlooking the Monongahela River, this fort once was a safe haven for European settlers trying to escape hostile Native Americans. It was first established in the late 1700s but the buildings you now see are reproductions of the rough-hewn log cabins that once stood here. It is a open-air living museum where you can demonstrations of blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, and other old-time traditions.
