Thurmond Ghost Town

Apparently boasting a population of five people, Thurmond saw its downfall when coal mining went by the wayside. This is one of the more recently vacated towns and the buildings still stand strong - although are looking sad and forlorn. A rabid fire in 1930 hastened the town's decline and now the town is sputtering on fumes. It looks empty but it still has some life - the Thurmond's handful of residents hold some sort of elected office.
