Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum

Lunatic asylums and hauntings go hand-in-hand - one cannot occur without the other. It most certainly has to do with the horrific treatment that mental patients endured and this hospital was among the worst with many patients being locked in cages. It was originally intended to house 250 patients but the number exploded to over 2,000 by the mid 1950s. It finally closed down in 1990. Incidentally, the grounds of the hospital were built on 666 acres - most certainly an unsettling fact.
