UPDATE: The store is now closed but the building remains. This coal mining museum is housed in a real company store. Historically, the Company Store was a place where miners and their families would get everything they needed - from dry goods to foodstuffs. Although it was on the face of things a miner benefit, it was another way of implicitly controlling the miners - even the money they earned. The owners are knowledgeable, the artifacts are numerous and authentic, and the information imparted is nothing short of fascinating.
