Dickeyville Grotto

Father Matthias Wernerus, who was the pastor of Holy Ghost Parish from 1918 to 1931, built this grotto stone by stone with this bare hands. His incredible works of art encompass his unwavering faith in Christ with his love of his country. Although most of the depictions are religious, a few were built in memory of historical figures such as Columbus, Washington, and Lincoln.
