The community was named for William Hyde who opened a sawmill there in 1856. Today, it's one of the most photographed spots in Wisconsin with its picturesque waterwheel and wheelhouse on the banks of Mill Creek. Going south on WI-23, turn left on County Hwy T, turn right on Erdman Rd., right on County Hwy H, and then a left on Mill Rd. You'll see the mill straight ahead. Nearby attractions include Taliesin and The House on the Rock.
