Description:

The Lincoln Monument, a portrayal of Abraham Lincoln crafted by Robert Russin, stands at a towering height of 12 and a half feet (3.8 meters), atop a substantial 30-foot-tall (9.1 meters) granite pedestal. Originally situated in 1959 by Russin on Sherman Hill, offering a watchful gaze over the historic U.S. Highway 30, known as the Lincoln Highway, the sculpture found its new home in 1969. With the construction of Interstate 80, state officials decided to relocate this iconic monument to the Summit Rest Area and Visitor Center, situated east of Laramie, Wyoming, serving as a focal point between the bustling cities of Cheyenne and Laramie.
