Description:

The Beartooth Pass in Wyoming is 10,947 feet (3,337 m) above sea level and it's only one of the sights you will see on this scenic drive over the Beartooth Highway which has been called "the most beautiful drive in America" by late CBS correspondent, Charles Kuralt. The Beartooth Highway is a section of U.S. Route 212 in Montana and Wyoming between Red Lodge and the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park, passing over the Beartooth Pass. Heavy snowfall at the top of the pass is why the road is usually only open from mid-May through mid-October. This highway climbs 5,000 feet through the gorgeous Rock Creek Vista Point and lodgepole pine forests leading to alpine lakes, 20 peaks over 12,000 feet, and glacially carved cirques. This is some beautiful scenery!
