Description:
Marked by a small, stone pyramidal memorial, this was the site of the 1865 Battle of Tongue River. A sad folly of history, this battle was waged against the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Sioux - who by some miracle forced them to retreat. Less than 200 years later it is a place of leisure for those who want to camp, picnic, or fish for trout and whitefish.
