Description:
Located on the Firehole River the Firehole Swim Area is two miles south of Madison Junction on Firehole Canyon Drive. The swim area is closed to swimming until mid-summer due to high water and strong currents. When open you can swim only during the designated hours. The swim area may remain closed the entire season during times of significant snowpack and runoff. The Firehole Swim area is closed at night. There's no food, drink, or alcohol allowed in the swim area, including cans, bottles, and plastic containers. The use of soap, shampoo, conditioner, even if biodegradable, are prohibited as well as water toys such as rafts, tubes, noodles, and pool floats. No climbing, diving, or jumping from the cliffs or trees in the area is allowed. There are two vault toilet facilities in this area.
