Description:
Frying Pan Spring is named for how hot grease appears on a grill. The spring's location is in a small valley on the Grand Loop Road south of Roaring Mountain on Nymph Lake in Yellowstone National Park. The gas bubbles from the spring are continuously spewing, but these gas bubbles are ascending through cold water, not boiling water, hence the sizzling sound of hot frying food. It's an authentic frying pan sound! New construction is complete in this area of the Grand Loop Road between Mammoth and Norris, so you can now access the Frying Pan Spring on a nice new boardwalk, too! If you want a great place to stop and stretch your legs and listen to the sound of a frying pan, pull up into the small parking area and visualize food frying - then stop somewhere and get something to eat!
