Description:

Located in northwestern Yellowstone National Park, Gibbon Falls is beautiful amidst the lush tropical brush and trees. This waterfall is just 4.7 miles upstream of the Gibbon and Firehole Rivers on the Grand Loop Road at Madison Junction. The walk is short, only 0.5 miles. The falls have a drop of nearly 84 feet in a gradual descent and the relaxing view and surrounding area will have your gaze transfixed. The designated parking area near the top of the falls is a great view, but it sometimes becomes crowded. The path down to the view from the parking area is well paved and nicely maintained. This trail is used primarily from May until November for walking and nature trips and is suitable for all skill levels. Take note that this area is prone to wildlife closures due to bear activity.
