J.P. Cunningham Cabin

John Cunningham built his cabin in 1888 after he and his wife had staked a claim for the Bar Flying U Ranch. The very rustic style is known as "Appalachian." The Cunninghams lived in the cabin until they finished their main home and ranch in 1895 but droughts ruined cattle and crops. Today it is the oldest structure in the Grand Teton National Park. To see the cabin and the glorious Teton Range views travel on Highway 191 and park in the area next to highway. The park strongly encourages visitors to stay at least 300 feet away from wild animals and bison.
