Description:
This 70-foot cascade-type waterfall on the Little Firehole River was initially named Little Firehole then changed to Mystic Falls by members of the Arnold Hague Geological Survey. The falls tumble down along a series of ledges on the Little Firehole River; then the river cuts through a small but ruggedly beautiful canyon. Mystic Falls is reached via the 1.2-mile (1.9 km) Mystic Falls Trail which starts at Biscuit Basin in the Upper Geyser Basin. From the falls the trail climbs about 500 feet to an overlook of the Upper Geyser Basin. The Mystic Falls Trail is a 2.6-mile round trip and features waterfalls and thermal areas. Be sure to stay on the maintained trails and boardwalks at all times, especially in hydrothermal regions, for your safety.
