Description:
The Old Faithful Visitor Education Center located across the west parking lot and near Old Faithful Geyser (they have huge windows to watch the geyser erupt if you don't want to be outside) is a combination ranger station, backcountry office, and clinic. This facility also houses the office of the district naturalist. The Center features exhibits on Yellowstone's hydrothermal features (geysers, hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles), life in these extreme environments, the volcano beneath Yellowstone, and ongoing scientific research in one of the most significant living laboratories on earth. You'll learn about the geology and timing of the Old Faithful Geyser and its history. The Young Scientist exhibit room is excellent for children of all ages and features a geyser model, hands-on exhibits, and a gathering space for classes and other organized groups. Rangers are always available for questions and, yes, the Visitor Center does have restrooms and a large gift store.
