Description:
Three out of five 30-foot-tall sandstone kilns remain intact. These are the remnants of a thriving charcoal industry in Wyoming. The kilns were built in 1869 by settler Moses Byrne but the coal industry declined sharply within a few years. The rest of Piedmont is a ghost town with a few deteriorating buildings left.
