Description:

It looks like a giant, deformed rock but it is actually the result of the underground spring water being pumped up through a pipe. The pipe was inserted in 1903 and minerals carried through the spurting water hardened into what you see today. While this mound is not exactly natural, it demonstrates that in the right environment rocks can form rather quickly in nature. Hot Springs State Park is open every day from sunrise to sunset.
